James R. Hasselback is on the faculty at Louisiana State University. He has also taught full-time at Lake Superior State College, Eastern Michigan University, the University of Florida, Texas A&M University, Florida State University, University of West Florida, Clarion University, and Florida Southern College. A member of the American Accounting Association and the American Taxation Association, he has published over 150 papers in professional and academic journals, including The Accounting Review, The Tax Advisor, Financial Management, Journal of Real Estate Taxation, and the American Business Law Journal.

Jim Hasselback has presented papers at numerous national and regional professional meetings, and served as chairman of tax sessions at professional conferences. He regularly presents continuing education seminars for Certified Public Accountants, Enrolled Agents, and Accountants. He is co-author on a two-volume introductory taxation series published by Commerce Clearing House, also serving as the technical editor. Jim teams up with Gleim Publications to produce a three-volume Enrolled Agent Review Course, an Annual Filing Season Review Course, Tax Exam Questions and Explanations, and over 30 CPE courses.

 Decedent Final 1040
    A final return for decedent is an income tax return that has been filed for an individual in the year of that taxpayer's death.
    Taxpayers who die in any given year must have one final tax return submitted to the IRS on their behalf to account for any income or transfers received in that year.
    The filing of a final decedent's final return may be unfamiliar or uncomfortable for some tax preparers. Make the final Form 1040 a powerful and effective part of the
    post-mortem planning process.

    Taxpayers may deduct both business and personal casualty or theft losses. Business casualty and theft losses are taken as a business deduction.Casualty losses are
    an itemized deduction for individuals.
    There are limitations on the deductible amount for individuals. Employee casualty losses, are not deductible. One of the primary benefits of casualty losses is that
    personal-use property can be deducted.

All Tax Update seminars begin at 8:30 am and end at 4:30 pm unless stated differently.
Each seminar is eight-hours of CPE (400 minutes).
There will be a 10-minute break in the morning and the afternoon.
Lunch is on your own and will be from 12:00 – 1:00.
All seminars are presented Group-Live.

Tax Update Seminars are $200 each. A 10% discount ($180 each) will be given for groups of five or more.

Confirmations for seminar registrations will be sent by email seven to ten days before the seminar.

Each participant will be sent via email a copy of the handout materials. I will no longer provide materials at the seminar.

Refunds for missing a seminar will given upon request.
